Major Drilling is a company with a culture of caring. Actions speak louder than words as Major Drilling branches share their time, abilities and donations across the globe. Many #MajorDrillingCares initiatives from Brazil, Mongolia, Canada, USA and more improve the communities where Major Drilling branches do business. Video highlights of these social responsibility efforts show how #MajorDrillingCares.

In true Canadian fashion, Major Drilling team members in Northern Ontario joined a hockey league to show how they care. The Major Drilling “Stingers” helped raise funds for the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer through a tournament hosted by the Sudbury Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Major Drilling Mongolia scored by taking hockey worldwide in partnership with the Embassy of Canada to Mongolia. These efforts delivered 600 donated pairs of skates, 30 sets of goalie gear and 400 hockey sticks to Mongolian kids who want to play hockey and have the protective gear they need to play safely.

Across the world at the Major Drilling headquarters in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Major Drilling’s corporate staff shared a day of caring with Crossroads for Women, supporting its mission to help women and children transition from crisis to empowerment.

The Major Drilling team spruced up, built up and lifted up this organization as they painted, organized and cleaned grounds at the nonprofit’s building. Major Drilling also supported the Crossroads for Women fundraising race and benefit concert.

Further donations at the headquarters location included the Extraordinary Care Campaign in support of the Moncton Hospital and donations to the Sue Stultz Turkey Drive to help families enjoy a turkey at Christmas and throughout the following cold months.

Bringing awareness to men’s health was a priority for Major Drilling’s North America Operations teams as they grew out their mustaches during #NoShaveNovember to raise money for cancer awareness.

Major Drilling Brazil staff collected and donated meals for people in need in Pilar, Bahia (see below).

They also provided meals for exhibitors at a fair supporting small rural farm producers. The Brazil team combined environmental responsibility with social responsibility by collecting and recycling used hydraulic and diesel fluids. Then they used the proceeds to donate needed food and supplies to a nearby nursery school.

In Mongolia, Major Drilling showed how it cares for families of its drillers and staff by holding a family day. The Major Drilling team showed family members equipment, safety measures and work activities that support the vast Oyu Tolgoi mine, location of the country’s largest gold and copper deposits.

Several members of the Major Drilling Mongolia team joined together to fight leukemia and blood cancers in the region.

By shaving their heads, they raised funds to support the National Cancer Council of Mongolia and set a theme of head shaving for a good cause.

The theme continued later in the year when Major Drilling president and CEO, Denis Larocque, made good on his pledge to shave his head in solidarity toward cancer patients who lose hair fighting for a cure. His commitment to raise funds for the Tree of Hope campaign helped the community raise $2.2 million (CAD).

Major Drilling helped shine a light on awarenesss for mental illness at the Miner’s Lamp Awards in partnership with IAMGOLD and the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry in March.
